Legal & General is to offer its network of independent mortgage advisers (IMAs) the opportunity to go online by providing websites free of charge.
The network of IMAs are tied to Legal & General for financial services products, but can offer independent mortgage advice.
Duncan Crocker, director of business partners at Legal & General, said: “With consumer use of the internet steadily increasing, we took the opportunity to support our 700 IMA partners by offering them an internet shop window”.
A recent MORI poll found that two million people buy financial services over the internet, an 11% increase in eight months.
There will also be a facility for an IMA to link up with 10 other sites to provide a value-added service. An IMA could, for example, link up with streetmap.com so that customers can get directions to reach the premises.
One of the more popular link-ups is to property developers who are building in the area.
