The traditional Christmas slowdown has hit the housing market earlier than usual, according to the latest survey from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
The survey found that house price inflation has now sunk to its lowest level since January as the difference between chartered surveyors reporting rises and those reporting falls fell 15% from 39% in September to 24% in October.
