Cheltenham & Gloucester (C&G) has decided not to challenge the ruling by the Financial Ombudsman that its dual mortgage policy was unfair. This means hundreds of C&G borrowers could be in line for compensation. Halifax and Nationwide have lost similar cases and Abbey National is awaiting a ruling expected soon. Nationwide has decided to compensate all affected borrowers, while Halifax will only compensate those who lodged a complaint before 1 March 2002.
