The September Hometrack survey of the housing market revealed house prices rose by an average of 0.6%, continuing the downward trend seen since May’s high of 2.6%. With the exception of central London, where prices fell by 0.2%, all counties experienced a rise.
Hometrack reported that Teeside property prices had the strongest growth at 1.6%, followed by Cornwall and Northumberland at 1.5%. The fastest-growing prices in cities were seen in Newcastle and Exeter (both 1.7%) and Preston (1.5%).
