HSBC is to offer home finance and a current account that comply with Islamic law.

Available from this week, the products have been designed to meet the needs of the UK’s Islamic community, estimated to be in the region of two million people.

Noaman Hasan, UK head of HSBC Amanah Finance, said: ‘Buying your home is an aspiration for most people, but the special needs of British Muslims have been over looked by the UK financial services industry.

‘Since the establishment of Amanah Finance five years ago, HSBC has developed a range of Islamic products and services which have so far been available to customers in the Middle East, Malaysia, and the US. As an international bank, we are able to use this experience to benefit UK customers.’
