BTL mortgages valued at £7.7bn for first half of year

A total of 75,100 buy-to-let (BTL) mortgages worth £7.7bn were issued in the first six months of 200...

A total of 75,100 buy-to-let (BTL) mortgages worth £7.7bn were issued in the first six months of 2003, according to the Council of Mortgage Lenders. These loans accounted for 6.4% of gross lending. There are now 334,800 BTL mortgages outstanding, worth £31.2bn. The average value of a BTL loan increased to £102,500 in the last six months with an average loan to value of 80%.
