CHL reports 90% of complaints decided in its favour
CHL Mortgages has released data which shows 90% of complaints raised by the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) were decided in its favour.

Between January and June 2013 FOS made 10 rulings on cases involving CHL, with only one judgement made against the lender.

In addition, CHL received 77 new complaints in the first half of the year and 12 have been referred to the Ombudsman. The lender has also already agreed to uphold two of these complaints itself.

Mortgage Solutions reported last week that Bank of Scotland was the most complained about company for mortgages in the first half of the year, receiving 927 in the six month period. Santander, Northern Rock (Asset Management), Barclays and Nationwide were also in the top five for mortgages.

Bob Young, managing director of CHL Mortgages, said: “We are pleased not just with the low level of complaints we continue to receive but also the very small number which have been upheld by FOS when they have been referred.

“This is perhaps even more impressive when you bear in mind that we continue to manage more than 40,000 live mortgage accounts. The very small number of complaints we receive should also be reviewed against our lending peer group.”
