PM appoints Kris Hopkins housing minister
Conservative MP Kris Hopkins has replaced Mark Prisk as the new housing minister in the government’s reshuffle.

A Downing Street spokeswoman told Mortgage Solutions Hopkins would be in charge of the housing portfolio.

Yesterday, the prime minister removed former chartered surveyor Prisk from the position as part of a Cabinet reshuffle.

The government has renewed its focus on the housing market in the past year but key polices such as the Help to Buy scheme have been run from the Treasury, rather than Prisk’s department.

Hopkins was elected in 2010 as the MP for Keighley, Yorkshire. He had previously been a councillor in Bradford.
