Ex-Bank of Ireland director joins lender Belmont Green
Former Bank of Ireland director Michael Cook has joined yet-to-launch lender Belmont Green Finance as director of products and customer proposition.

Cook was formerly the director of Post Office Partnership at the Bank of Ireland and prior to this he held senior mortgage positions at ING, Lehman Brothers and Kensington Mortgages.

He joins David Tweedy, Guy Batchelor, Will Howard Davies, Lesley Sewell and Ian Giles at Belmont Green to help create a challenger brand mortgage lender which will distribute its products exclusively through intermediaries. The lender plans to offer residential, secured and buy-to-let loans.

“We’re really pleased that Mike is on board,” said Batchelor, sales and marketing director at Belmont Green. “His knowledge of developing and managing mortgage products and experience of under-served sections of the market make him a great addition to the team.”

Belmont Green’s lead investor is Pine Brook, a private equity investment firm that manages more than $6bn of capital commitments and specialises in ‘business building’, primarily in financial services and energy businesses.

The timescale for the launch is still to be announced.
