Legal and General reveals Mortgage Club awards finalists
Legal and General Mortgage Club has confirmed its list of awards finalists, ahead of the ceremony at the Guildhall in the City on 3 June.

In its 21st year, the awards have gone from strength to strength with eight lender awards and another seven celebrating mortgage adviser excellence.

Mortgage Club director Jeremy Duncombe talks us through the shortlisted finalists in this six minute video.

In a record, Legal and General Mortgage Club confirmed completions of £4.7bn in March, beating any previous numbers in the club’s history. First quarter completions of £12.5bn were also up 33% on the same period in 2015.

For those unable to watch the video, here is a transcript of Jeremy’s script:

Hello, and welcome to the 2016 Legal & General Mortgage Club Awards nominations video.

Our prestigious awards will be held on 3 June, once again at the fantastic Guildhall in London. It will be a great day, with over 400 of the most important people in the mortgage market attending – hopefully all in celebratory mood.

This is our 21st year as a mortgage club, and these awards are the highlight of our year, as we get the chance to congratulate our key account firms and lenders on their achievements during the previous year. It has been a really good year for the intermediary market, and we are delighted to be able to recognise this at our event.

We have a total of 15 awards this year – 8 for lenders and 7 for brokers. 12 of these awards have been voted for by our business partners, with the other 3 judged by Legal & General.

This is my chance to announce the finalists for those 12 awards, and also to explain the other three awards that will be handed out on the day.

So let’s start with the broker awards. These awards have been voted for by our lenders. For each category, we asked lenders to nominate their top three brokers based on their experience and knowledge in that specific sector, good customers outcomes, quality and relationships with lenders. These scores were then collated to provide us with our finalists. Congratulations to all of them. It’s a fantastic achievement to be a finalist, and good luck on the day.

The final two broker awards for Best Protection and GI Broker and Best Overall Mortgage Broker are judged by Legal & General and will be announced on the day. There are no finalists for these two awards.

Good luck to all of our finalists, and congratulations on being recognised for your great efforts over the past 12 months.

Moving on to the lenders awards. We have seven categories which have all been voted for by our members. This is strictly one member one vote, and is simply a case of the most votes for a lender wins – nothing more complicated than that, so it’s a real judgement as to how our brokers view our lenders.

Our eighth and final lender award is judged by Mortgage Club, and is our award for the Lender with the Best Partnership with Mortgage Club. This recognises partnership, engagement and delivery with previous winners being Leeds Building Society and Virgin Money. There are no finalists for this category, however 15 lenders have been nominated by the team at Mortgage Club which demonstrates the depth of relationships and engagement that we have with most of our lenders.

Awards for 2016 will be presented for:

Best Lender for Large Loans
Best Lender for Buy to Let
