Richard Tugwell to join relaunched CHL for Intermediaries
Former Virgin Money director of intermediaries Richard Tugwell is to join Capital Home Loans (CHL) as commercial director, following the lender’s announcement it would relaunch this summer.

Tugwell (pictured), will join CHL as the lender prepares to offer an intermediary-only buy-to-let proposition imminently.

Tugwell has worked at Northern Rock as head of sales, director of trade body the Intermediary Mortgage Lenders Association (IMLA) and director of Mortgage Trading Exchange, before spending five-and-a-half years at Virgin.

In a statement on its website earlier this year, CHL said it planned to re-enter the UK lending market as CHL for Intermediaries by the middle of 2016.

CHL stopped lending in 2008, before managing director Bob Young left the firm in 2014 to start up specialist buy-to-let lender Fleet Mortgages.

Gerry Hickey, managing director of CHL, said: “We are delighted to welcome Richard Tugwell to the CHL team as commercial director. Richard brings a wealth of experience to our team having been in the market for over 30 years, for the majority of this building relationships with intermediaries, and most recently as the intermediary sales director for Virgin Money. Richard will be looking after our sales and marketing teams and helping to form the strategy that will fulfil our ambition to return to the lending market”.
