Specialist lender Together moves up The Sunday Times Top Track 250
Specialist lender Together has been listed in The Sunday Times Grant Thornton Top Track 250 – the league table ranking Britain’s private mid-market growth companies with the biggest sales -- for the second time.

Together is a specialist lender offering a variety of products including short-term finance, auction finance, residential, buy-to-let and commercial mortgages as well as secured loans.

With an increase in both sales and operating profit of 27% for the 12 months to 30 June 2016, Together has climbed 56 places in the league table from 163rd to 107th. Currently, Together has a loan book of over £2.24bn – with annual new lending to 30 June 2017 at close to £1.2bn.

Gary Beckett, group chief financial officer, said: “We’re really pleased to be recognised in the Top Track 250, which testifies to our robust business model and affirms our position as a leader in the specialist finance market.”

Together has evolved repeatedly since its founding in 1974, when it issued its first property loan under Blemain Finance. After diversifying to offer commercial mortgages under Lancashire Mortgage Corporation, and residential and shared ownership mortgages under Cheshire Mortgage Corporation – the various brands were regrouped under Jerrold Holdings in 1994.

In 2013, Jerrold Holdings’ loan book reached the £1bn mark. Then, following the founding of Bridging Finance to provide short-term funding for the professional sector, and moving into shot-term auction loans with Auction Finance – the sprawling network of lending arms were consolidated under the Together financial brand in 2015.

Speaking on the listing, Beckett said: “We’ve invested heavily in our people and infrastructure, ensuring we have the right platform to support sustained and long-term growth, and are now reaping the rewards of that.”

The Sunday Times’ table ranks companies by a combination of their annual sales and operating profits, and the new position on the league table places Together at fifth for the North West Region.

“This is a fantastic acknowledgement of our achievements,” said Marc Goldberg, commercial chief executive officer, “… as the business has expanded, we’ve created more jobs and now employ over 550 colleagues at our Cheadle headquarters, who have all contributed to this success and will help drive Together forward as we continue on our exciting journey.”
