Barclays mortgage customers left on hold for two hours amid phone glitch
Barclays' mortgage customer centre has been hit by a phone glitch, which left some customers waiting on hold for hours.

The issue appeared to drop some people who were phoning out of the contact system, meaning their call had no chance of being answered.

Customers took to twitter to complain about lengthy delays to have mortgage queries answered by the lender.

One frustrated user Alan Edwards wrote on Twitter: “@Barclays What a joke. Waited on hold for over [two] hours for mortgage query and never got picked up. #badcustomerservice”

The glitch has now been rectified and only affected select customers phoning the mortgage contact centre, according to Barclays.

A spokesman for the bank said: “We experienced a temporary fault on one of our contact numbers for Barclays Mortgages which was swiftly resolved.

“However, for a small number of customers it resulted in their calls not being answered and for this error we offer our apologies.”
