Ex-Legal and General director of housing strategy Stephen Smith has been appointed a non executive director (NED) on AIM-listed adviser Mortgage Advice Bureau’s Board.
Smith, who stepped back from the Association of Mortgage Intermediaries (AMI) board in November and retired from L&G at the end of December, joins effective immediately.
Peter Brodnicki, CEO, Mortgage Advice Bureau, said: “I have worked for and with Stephen for nearly 25 years, and have been keen for him to join the non exec board at MAB as soon as the opportunity arose.”
He added: “I am delighted that Stephen is joining us at what is such an exciting time for the business. He brings a wealth of experience in the mortgage and insurance sectors, with his appointment bringing excellent insight to the Board and also supports the strategic direction of the group.”
Smith said: “I am delighted to have been asked to join the Board of Mortgage Advice Bureau as a non executive director and I am looking forward to helping them continue their impressive success and growth.”
He added: “MAB is a company that I have known and admired for many years, and I believe that it leads the market in mortgage advice and sales and has exciting plans for the future in both the digital and face to face advice sectors. I am looking forward to putting my experience and knowledge to work there.”
Smith joins other MAB non executive directors chair Katherine Innes Ker and Richard Verdin on the MAB board, which was the first UK mortgage and protection advice firm to list on AIM in November 2014.
