United Trust Bank has bolstered its growing specialised mortgages division with one internal and one external appointment.

Robert Owen (pictured), currently responsible for the specialised mortgages division, has been promoted to the role of managing director – mortgages and bridging. The new role will see him take additional responsibility for the bridging finance division.

Group managing director, Harley Kagan, said: “We are delighted with the successful launch of the specialised mortgages division, which Robert has overseen. We will now be using Robert’s considerable experience to develop both our mortgage and short term lending propositions with a clear mandate to continue their evolution whilst at the same time ensuring we provide unrivalled intermediary service.”

In addition, Jo Edwards has joined United Trust Bank as business development director – mortgages and bridging. She was previously commercial director of Nemo Finance, a subsidiary of Principality Building Society.

She will work closely with Buster Tolfree, commercial director – specialised mortgages and Gavin Diamond, commercial director – bridging, to enhance the product ranges and develop the businesses.

Commenting on Jo Edwards’ appointment Robert Owen said: “I am very pleased to welcome Jo to the team and she joins at an exciting phase of our development. We have had a successful first year since launching our specialised mortgages division with strong growth and a very positive reception from brokers. Jo’s appointment underlines our commitment to continue growing our mortgage and bridging businesses and demonstrates the importance we place on building a strong team to deliver the high levels of service our customers deserve.”
