This week’s Star Letter Extra comment goes to John Fisher for his response on the post: Accountants argue sellers paying Stamp Duty would boost housing market.
He said: “One of the biggest reasons (excuses?) for people not downsizing is the Stamp Duty they will have to pay.
“This will only worsen the situation. And when the housing market slumps again, as it inevitably will, this will discourage people to move even further due to the possibilities of negative equity increasing.”
