Research from Sun Bank suggests only one-fifth of intermediaries have passed exams and will be qualified to advise on mortgages after the end of the year. In a survey of 100 brokers, over a quarter favoured the CeMaP exams, with just over 10% wishing to take the MAQ exam. Chris Cummings, marketing director at Sun Bank, said: ‘It is understandable that qualification is not a top priority for brokers at the moment. The fact that so many brokers remain unqualified led us to develop our own training programme to ensure they have all the help they need.’
