House buyers in London are being too hasty when purchasing property with the average buyer taking just 18 minutes to decide upon a home.
Research from Fish4homes indicates two-thirds of properties worth £150,000 in London are sold after one viewing, compared to 55% across the whole of the UK.
Jonathan Turpin, chief executive, said: ‘As it is a seller’s market, many buyers don’t feel they have the luxury of a second viewing. Our advice is for buyers to go with a checklist to evaluate the property, ask questions and compare against other homes.’
The research, which polled homeowners, estate agents and retailers, also found 48% of house-hunters do not bother to check the plumbing or electricity when looking at a property and 28% faced one or two major problems when moving in that could have been spotted viewing the house.
