Cheltenham & Gloucester (C&G) has appointed John Simpson as senior programme manager in its project services department. The department is to oversee projects that result in major change within the lender’s business practices.

Simpson joined C&G from a high street competitor in 1989 to become branch manager of the lender’s Hull office. Two years later, he moved to a similar position at C&G’s Leeds office. From there he became regional manager for the North of England in 1992.

Commenting on his new role, Simpson said: ‘My chief responsibility is to ensure C&G meet the requirements of any new initiatives with both short and long-term implementation times.’

Southern Pacific Mortgage Limited (SPML)

SPML has strengthened its team with the announcement of two new appointments.

Tabby Khursheed is the lender’s new marketing manager in charge of product strategy. She will concentrate on specialist products including second-charge mortgages and correspondent lending. Khursheed was previously responsible for product development at Preferred Mortgages. .

Due to SPML’s increased focus on second-charge mortgages, Gordon Taylor has been appointed as business development manager for seconds. He will operate on a nation- wide basis, nurturing existing relationships with packagers and brokers, while increasing volumes. Gordon joins from Paragon Personal Finance, where he performed a similar role and he has worked in the industry for 15 years.

Global Home Loans

Global Home Loans (GHL) has appointed Simon Hinshelwood as its chief operating officer (COO).

Hinshelwood will be responsible for all operational aspects of the business and his remit covers loan origination, servicing and business process improvements and the development of the company’s operational strategy.

His background includes 10 years in Australia ‘ most recently as COO of Aussie Home Loans. He began his career in the UK practice of Arthur Andersen.

Kevin Meyers, chief executive officer of GHL, said: ‘Simon’s appointment completes our close-knit team. He brings invaluable experience collected over his impressive career, as well as energy, drive and enthusiasm.’

Mortgage Code Compliance Board

The Mortgage Code Compliance Board (MCCB) has appointed Roger Malvern to its board of directors. He replaces Paul Duffin, who recently retired from the board, and will sit as lender representative non-executive director.

At the moment, Malvern is mortgage director at Cheltenham & Gloucester (C&G). He joined C&G in 1964, and held a number of positions until his appointment to the board in 1993. He is responsible for lending, administration, risk management and compliance.

Colin Harris, MCCB chairman said: ‘We are pleased Roger Malvern has joined the board. His extensive experience and knowledge will be invaluable to the MCCB as we continue to work closely with the whole industry to maintain standards and effective consumer protection.’
