Association of Independent Financial Advisers (AIFA)

AIFA has appointed John Gummer as chairman.

He will take up the post on 1 January 2003. Gummer was chairman of the Conservative Party under Margaret Thatcher and was a minister for 16 years, working as minister for agriculture, fisheries and food and secretary of state for the environment.

Mortgage Code Compliance Board (MCCB)

The MCCB has appointed Joe Flynn to its board of directors. Flynn is currently head of intermediary mortgage strategy at RBS, where he is responsible for creating and implementing plans to develop intermediary mortgage sales for the bank.

Flynn has also worked for Citibank and Preferred Mortgages. At Citibank he worked in branch management roles and later as sales and marketing director of mortgages, where he was responsible for business volumes and customer relationships.
