PMI Europe has accelerated its move into the lenders’ mortgage insurance (MI) business in the UK by appointing Eddie Smith as UK country manager.

He will be responsible for the delivery of lenders’ MI to financial institutions with significant portfolios of residential mortgages. Primary MI protects lenders and investors against borrower default on residential mortgage loans.

Smith joins PMI Europe from Verso, where he was director of business development. He was instrumental in taking Verso from start-up to its merger with Platform Home Loans in 2002.
