Mortgage Broker Savills Private Finance (SPF) has opened a Glasgow office with further expansions expected in Scotland.

Although based in Glasgow, the office will initially look to service both the Edinburgh and Glasgow markets. David Carmichael will be responsible for the Glasgow business while Bruce Robertson will take on the Edinburgh business.

Alan Mudd, director of SPF, said: ‘We will ensure the Edinburgh business is looked after from Glasgow, although in time I would expect to have an office in Edinburgh as well.’

Mudd added that other areas in Scotland would also be under consideration, although it may be possible to service the country’s needs from bases in its two largest cities.

Mudd expected levels of business to be significant in Scotland, helped by the presence of sister estate agency FPD Savills operations in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Perth and Brechin.

SPF has also grown its Manchester and Nottingham offices in recent months, and Mudd said he expected this trend to continue.

Last year SPF almost doubled its profit to just under £2m and arranged mortgages worth in excess of £1.5bn.

Mudd concluded: ‘We have carefully planned the opening of the new office and I am delighted SPF is now operating in Scotland.’

SPF has also relaunched its website covering its mortgage, investment and insurance services.
