Solent Mortgage Services

Branded lender Solent Mortgage Services (SMS) has announced three promotions. Rachael Christie has become operations manager, Karen Harmen is now processing manager and Davinia Blackman is the new underwriting manager. Andy Payne, operations director at SMS, commented: ‘New working practices throughout the operations department are being introduced to accommodate longer-term developments and the increase in business levels. The new structure will enable us to maintain and improve our standards and maximise service levels.’

Portman Group

Two new national sales managers have been appointed to head the 12-strong Portman Group intermediary sales team. Chris Maggs and Colin Wigley will manage the business development team, operating throughout the UK, as well as continuing to build on national account and broker relationships. Both Maggs and Wigley were previously business development managers at Portman. Prior to working for the Portman Group, Maggs was a business development manager at the Household Mortgage Corporation. He has also worked for Beneficial Bank and Lloyds TSB in similar roles. Wigley has worked as a broker and a national account manager for Legal & General. He has 29 years’ experience in the financial services sector.

Commercial First Mortgages

Commercial First Mortgages (CFM) has announced four additions to its management and sales teams. Mark Johnson and Liz Overs have joined as business development managers (BDM). Johnson joins as BDM for the South West from Bristol & West, where he was a national account manager. Prior to this, he was a BDM with mortgageforce, and a corporate accounts manager with Portman Building Society. Overs joins from E-Serve Chartered Surveyors, where she was a BDM for four years. Tim Theobald joins CFM as the company’s group financial controller, having held a similar role at igroup. And John Barber will shortly join as operations manager from Homeloan Management, the third-party mortgage administration arm of the Skipton Building Society.
