Steve Carruthers has been appointed as head of corporate accounts at Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) Intermediary Partners.

In his new position, he will be responsible for managing the relationships with key national accounts and a team of six corporate account managers for RBS Intermediary Partners’ four brands.

Carruthers has been with the RBS Group for 20 years performing a variety of roles across the business. Prior to his new role, he was senior corporate account manager responsible for managing national mortgage intermediary relationships.

Chris Pearson, director of intermediary mortgages at RBS, said: “He has built a great deal of knowledge and experience from his time working in the mortgage intermediary sector and will be invaluable in building our corporate partners’ proposition.

“He is well known in our industry, and along with his team, will drive our corporate strategy to maximise the opportunities offered by today’s marketplace.”

Blu Finance

Cheshire-based Blu Finance Group has appointed James Briggs as sales director.

Briggs was formerly business development manager for the north-west for the Swift Group.

In his new role, he will be responsible for promoting Blu’s full range of financial services via a network of broker partners established during his time at Swift. Briggs said he was particularly keen to promote its debt management proposition.

Friends Provident

Friends Provident plc has appointed Evelyn Bourke as chief financial officer (CFO) subject to regulatory approval.

She joins from Standard Life UK Financial Services where she held the same position.

Bourke boasts a strong track record and substantial experience in financial services having held senior roles at Standard Life and Chase de Vere Investments plc, and having undertaken a wide range of consulting work in the life and pensions industry, including as a principal at Tillinghast -Towers Perrin.

She will join Friends Provident after completing a notice period of six months.Until then Charles Bellringer will remain interim CFO.

Trevor Matthews, chief executive officer of Friends Provident, said: “Bourke has the drive and energy – as well as the broadly based financial services experience – that makes her ideally placed to support me in maximising business opportunities for Friends Provident.” n
