The Independent Equity Release Adviser Alliance (IERAA) has revealed plans to offer its adviser members training seminars, held in partnership with a number of providers in the sector.

The IERAA – which was officially launched last month – said the interest from brokers generated by the Alliance since its launch had exceeded initial predictions.

Anthony Harris, chairman of IERAA, commented: “We plan to hold training sessions for our members to enhance what they already know and improve their business practices.”

Harris said that by helping its members share ideas on best practice and providing training, it hoped the Alliance would become a “gold standard” for the industry so that the likes of Age Concern and Consumer Advice Bureau could recommend it knowing that its advisers were all of a high standard.

He concluded: “We will put the seminars on in cooperation with the providers but we need to make sure we get the right sort of advisers on board first. We hope to be able to start offering the equity release training this side of Christmas, however the offering will be in place by Q1 next year for definite.”
