The director general of the Association of Mortgage Intermediaries, Chris Cummings, has announced that he is leaving the broker industry.

The director general of the Association of Independent Financial Advisers (AIFA), the Association of Mortgage Intermediaries (AMI) and the Association of Finance Brokers (AFB) leaves to start his new role as the chief executive of TheCityUK, a new body set up to promote the UK-based financial services industry. Recruitment for a replacement director general at AMI is now underway.

Chris Cummings said: “Brokers now have a strong and respected voice in both Westminster and Brussels. AIFA is a better respected organisation and we have a higher membership than ever before.”

Michael White, managing director for Email Mortgages, said: “What is needed from a great trade body leader is the will to stick your neck out intelligently for your members and the ability to communicate at every level.”
