The Telegraph says the move would be a continuation of Osborne’s attempts to reverse many of the acts initiated by Gordon Brown at the Treasury.
Osborne has already unveiled plans to disband the FSA, one of Brown’s first decisions. The former Prime Minister also introduced the PBR, which is now one of the most important events in the political calendar.
While no final decision has yet been made on the PBR, the paper says the Chancellor is mulling scrapping the event entirely, for this year at least.
At the very least, Osborne intends to rebrand the PBR as the Autumn Statement, as it was traditionally known, it adds.
