LifeSearch eyeing-up GI market
Lifesearch has revealed it is considering entering the general insurance broker market.

The specialist protection adviser firm is debating the move following suggestions from some of its life insurance customers.

David Child, the newly appointed non-executive chairman of parent company Baigrie Davies LifeSearch, told Mortgage Solutions’ sister title COVER the firm was “exploring the general insurance market”.

“We’re exploring whether we should be doing it and whether that’s something we can do to add value to our customers,” he said.

“We have the opportunity to provide other product types, such as home contents or home insurance and are looking at those things at the moment to provide more engagement for our customers.

“Because we have such a strong brand and customer relationship it makes sense to have those conversations, in much the same way we have conversations about wills, or putting policies in trust for protection products,” he added.

Child did not put a timescale on the decision process, but noted that the discussions had been prompted following client feedback.

“It’s partly in response to customers ‘asking do we provide it?’ he concluded.

The full interview with David Child will be published on the COVER website later this week.
