Servicing staff in consultation at GE Money Home Lending
An unconfirmed number of staff have been placed into consultation at specialist lender GE Money Home Lending.

The lender placed the IT and customer service divisions at its Watford office in consultation last Tuesday, as part of plans to simplify its operating structure.

Training departments will also be merged, confirmed a source, and other areas rationalised including employees that look after the mortgage accounts.

GE said in an official statement: “We continuously review our business to ensure that we operate effectively in what remains a challenging UK mortgage market.

“Following the successful migration of our operations to one IT platform in August, we have reviewed our Watford operations and are proposing to simplify our IT structure, transfer Customer Services activity to our Truro call centre and adjust the size of other functions to support a more simplified organisation.

“We are currently in consultation with employees to discuss the details of the proposed changes and how they may be impacted.”

The lender will continue to operate from its Watford base, which currently houses 800 staff. It was unable to confirm the number of redundancies but said the number would be “small.”

The lender said it remained committed to the intermediary mortgage market.
