Which? opens mortgage advice service to all
The Which? mortgage advice service launched a year ago will now be available to the public at large, having previously been restricted to its members and their friends and family.

Which? Mortgage Advisers has confirmed that the service has been widened out to all consumers with immediate effect and it will seek to expand its team of advisers to meet demand.

It currently has 12 advisers, with more joining in December, and has advised more than 2,000 customers to date.

The service launched with just three advisers in November 2010 and raised eyebrows in the industry by marketing itself as a “free” and impartial service, with advisers paid a salary rather than commission and any proc fees received used to fund the service.

A Which? spokesperson said: “Following a year of successfully helping our members and their friends and families, we have decided to open up the service to everyone who is looking for mortgage advice, so that we can help all consumers choose the right mortgage. We are now taking calls from the public.

“We will recruit more advisers as demand for the service grows, to make sure that our customers receive the highest levels of service.”
