Melanie Bien quits PF to launch Bien Media
Ex-Independent personal finance editor and finance and property commentator Melanie Bien has left her directorship at Private Finance to launch her own marketing and PR agency, Bien Media.

Focussed on the mortgage and property sectors, Bien’s first clients are both high-net worth brokers and include ex-employer Savills Private Finance and Anderson Harris.

The agency, which launched this week, is Bien’s first foray into consultancy after seven years of in-house public relations.

“Over time, I’ve had several approaches from small companies, including bridging lenders and other firms who want top quality PR, but don’t have the corporate budget to take someone on full time.”

Bien said her focus will be mortgage and property markets, including insurance, brokers and lenders to property finders and small estate agencies.

Mark Harris, managing director of Savills Private Finance said this is a good fit for Savills.

“We won’t have to spend ages getting to know each other and with a target loan market of close to £1m, Mel can help us reach those clients through PR activity.”

Harris said he expected 2012 to be relatively flat, but expected to increase turnover through fees instead of recruiting more advisers to produce similar numbers to 2011.
