Budget 2012: Two thirds of Brits expect Budget to hit pockets
About 66% of Brits expect today's Budget will leave them feeling less confident about their finances, according to research.

The research from price comparison website uSwitch.com also states that only 4% of people think that they will be left feeling more confident about their financial situation following George Osborne’s speech.

In addition, just one in ten expect the announcements to leave them feeling more optimistic about the country’s finances. A third believe they will be left feeling more worried about their job.

Director of consumer policy at uSwitch.com Ann Robinson said: “Few expect the Budget to make life any easier. Far from creating a sense of hope and optimism, consumers are feeling less confident about their own financial situation and job security as well as the country’s finances ahead of the Budget announcement.”

More than a third said that the most important things the Chancellor should tackle are rising utility bills and petrol costs.

Meanwhile, more than one in four are clearing debts and more than one in ten are reorganising outstanding ones because of concerns about the current financial situation.

“With many left wondering where the Chancellor will wield his axe, it’s good news that many households are already taking matters into their own hands by clearing their debts,” Robinson added.
