Platform brand to close before the end of the year
Co-operative Bank's intermediary lender Platform will cease to exist before the end of the year, Mortgage Solutions understands.

However, Platform did confirm that staff working at the lender’s main offices in Canary Wharf will exit the premises on 27 June.

Platform said it will continue to have a presence in London, with a significant proportion of operational activity being carried out from Manchester.

On Wednesday next week, the brand is also hosting an office closure party for employees and the industry.

Platform said: “From next week, the building is vacant and the effects of the changes we’ve made to the structure will become effective.

“We’re still committed to growing our lending this year with particular emphasis on the buy-to-let market.”

However, a Platform spokesman, who would not confirm the brand closure, said: “We will continue to offer mortgage intermediary lending via Platform and have no plans to change that.

“We will continue to review our approach to the mortgage market on an ongoing basis to ensure that we are best positioned to support needs of customers and intermediaries.”

In February, Platform announced that it had placed 80 staff in consultation.
