CBI chief criticises government’s economic plan
The head of the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) has hit out at the government's implementation of its growth plan, calling it "really disappointing", according to the FT.

Director-general John Cridland told the Financial Times social housing and transport projects needed to accelerate growth should be sped up.

He said: “I think it is really disappointing how long it is taking to get momentum and urgency into the growth plan.”

Cridland (pictured) also said the UK economy was at “pretty considerable” risk from the eurozone headwinds.  He added, while the crisis has not yet killed off investment, business activity and job growth the risks to the UK were still high.

He demanded the coalition “get back on the front foot on the growth plan” before the summer recess.

“I’ve used the Churchillian phrase before, ‘action this day’, but I just can’t see the action,” he said in an interview with the FT.
