Post Office to roll out ‘mortgage specialists’ to more branches
The Post Office is to roll out its in-branch ‘mortgage specialists’ to three further locations after positive feedback from the public.

The firm launched its first wave of in-branch mortgage specialists in August, claiming that consumers were eager to discuss mortgage requirements in person before committing to take out a product.

The specialists, who are not able to offer regulated advice, will now be located in branches in Peterborough, Nottingham and Cambridge. They are already situated in Post Office branches in Birmingham, Solihull, Walsall, Luton and Norwich.

The Post Office said that this move would help the lender become a ‘genuine alternative’ to major high street brands.

John Willcock, head of Post Office Mortgages, said that the lender had been thrilled with the response to the specialists in the first wave of branches.

“We were delighted by the response to our introduction of Mortgage Specialists in branch earlier this year, and our decision to roll out the offering into a further three Post Office branches is testament to the positive response we have received.

“Finding the right mortgage can be a complex process and this is one of the reasons why we have introduced our specially trained Mortgage Specialists to assist our customers through the process.

“We are one of the fastest growing financial services providers in the UK and we are constantly looking at ways to offer new services to our customers.

“By introducing Mortgage Specialists into a further three branches across the network, we are taking the next step in fulfilling our ambition to become one of the best providers in the market place and to be a genuine alternative to the established high street providers.”

A statement released by the lender said: “The Post Office’s new mortgage software will enable customers to find out how much they could borrow and view product features and repayments on screen.

“Within a few minutes customers can be provided with a printed Approval in Principle or have the opportunity to submit a full mortgage application.”
