Sugar vs. Trump: The Twitter slapdown
Property tycoon and US Apprentice star Donald Trump was sparring yesterday with his UK counterpart Alan Sugar on Twitter.

The online punch up began when Trump questioned George Osborne’s ability to reduce UK debt while subsidising Scotland’s wind turbines which “people don’t want”.

Sugar responded, “I think you have that wrong. The Scottish don’t want you,” before arguing that the wind turbines would bring more revenue to the country than Trump’s own controversial golf course development in Aberdeenshire.

Trump then turned his fire onto Sugar, casting doubt on his success as a businessman and his role as a star in The Apprentice. He tweeted: “When I made The Apprentice the no.1 show in the US, that was a good day for you and many others. Drop to your knees, Sugar, and say thank you, Mr Trump.”

“Look in the mirror and thank the real Lord that Donald Trump exists,” he added. “You are nothing!”

The US-based British journalist Piers Morgan also weighed in, tweeting: “Don’t wish to interfere obviously @realDonaldTrump – but it may be time to fire @Lord_Sugar from YOUR show for his impertinence?”

The two moguls also sparred over the number of Twitter followers they had, who controlled The Apprentice and whether Trump had bank debt on his real estate.
