Scottish Widows extends criteria for professional mortgages

Scottish Widows Bank has widened the pool of customers eligible for its professional mortgage range.

From today both trainee accountants and trainee actuaries will be able to access Scottish Widows’ range of professional products.

Other professions eligible for these mortgages include accountants, actuaries, dentist, doctors, optometrists, pharmacists, solicitors, teachers and vets.

The lender, part of Lloyds Banking Group, has also introduced a new 90% LTV product. It will offer a two-year fixed rate flexible mortgage at 5.39% with a £999 fee through both its intermediary and direct channels.

Mike Jones, managing director of Scottish Widows Bank said, “There is a clear requirement for niche products such as professional and offset mortgages.

“A segment of the home buying public that has specific requirements from their mortgage and we are pleased to be able to support through competitive rates and by extending our eligibility criteria.”
