As the year draws to a close, Mortgage Solutions rounds-up ten of the biggest stories involving Aldermore from the past 12 months.

Aldermore launches into let-to-buy
Aldermore started the year strongly with the launch of its let-to-buy range in February. This allowed homeowners the chance to move but retain their existing property for rental purposes.

Buy-to-let remained a big issue and Aldermore managing director Charles Haresnape took the hotseat as he took part in a live Mortgage Solutions webchat in March.

Look out for backdoor resi, Aldermore urges brokers
Aldermore highlighted the problem of backdoor residential mortgages during Mortgage Solutions‘ Buy to Let Market Forum. Rob Barnard from the lender asked brokers to be aware of unusual transactions.

Aldermore posts 77.4% lending increase
Final gross mortgage lending figures for 2012 were released midway through the year with Aldermore recording a 77.4% leap in its mortgage lending, reaching £899.2m over the 12 month spell.

Aldermore begins mortgage lending in Scotland
The lender started offering mortgages in Scotland for the very first time in June. Aldermore had already been offering mortgages across England and Wales since its launch.

Aldermore launches comprehensive buy-to-let proposition
Aldermore then launched an ‘end to end’ service for buy-to-let landlords and brokers operating in the sector including giving direct access to underwriters.

Aldermore’s total residential lending tops £1.3bn
The end of July saw the firm’s total residential mortgage lending since launch pass the £1.3bn mark following £361m of gross mortgage lending in the first half of 2013.

Aldermore confirms plans to launch Help to Buy 2 products
Aldermore was one of the first lenders to announce plans to take part in the second phase of the Help to Buy scheme following the government’s shock decision to bring forward the launch date.

Aldermore plans first securitisation in 2014
In October the bank unveiled plans to launch its first ever securitisation in 2014 as preparation for the end of the Funding for Lending Scheme.

Aldermore and Virgin Money to launch Help to Buy products this month
The Chancellor of the Exchequer announced Aldermore’s launch into the Help to Buy scheme as part of his Autumn Statement speech to the House of Commons in early December.
