HomeOwners Alliance signs free advice deal with London & Country
Lobbying organisation for homeowners, the HomeOwners Alliance has agreed a deal with London & Country to offer its members a free advice service, which launched yesterday.

The Alliance, which already provides a free legal service for members, said it realised its mortgage guides and awareness-raising was important but the consumer lobbying association wanted to go further.

“Our 2013 YouGov poll of first time buyer stresses told us that prospective homebuyers expect finding a mortgage will be the most difficult part of buying a property. In our free, unbiased advice we have always highlighted the benefits of using a broker as a means of accessing the best mortgage deal.” said Paula Higgins, chief executive (pictured).

“But we also knew that a lot of consumers still think a broker is going to cost them hundreds of pounds which can be prohibitive. That’s why L&Cs fee-free approach is something we want to make consumers aware of.”

On the timing of the deal, Higgins said: “We felt we were falling short by not providing a mortgage service to our members and visitors until now. This new partnership means we can offer people a one stop shop for their home buying and selling needs by putting them in touch with a mortgage broker that we from members’ experience offer a great service.”

David Hollingworth, associate director, communications at London & Country Mortgages, added: “Homeowners Alliance has been working hard to champion the cause of existing and aspiring homeowners. We’re therefore delighted to partner with HOA to help its users with all their mortgage requirements, whether it is a new home or seeking a better rate on their existing mortgage.”
