In a first for the specialist trade media, Mortgage Solutions has launched its first app in partnership with Kensington Mortgages.

The multi-media App – Opportunities in Specialist Lending – showcases a new era in trade digital publishing.

The app supplement includes video with extra hotspots for key information including biographies, audio clips and social media links throughout the app.

Download the app via the web version to view on a desktop browser or laptop, or on either Apple or Android software on your phone or tablet.

Alex Hammond, head of marketing at Kensington welcomes readers to the app in his video with the cover feature examining strategies for the buy-to-let, adverse credit and self-employed sectors this year. In their head to head, Simplybiz CEO Martin Reynolds and Complete FS director Tony Salentino also debate the key specialist market issues for mortgage advisers this year and Kensington lifts the lid on its mortgage range.

Alex Hammond, head of marketing communications at Kensington, said: “Specialist lenders currently account for around 8% of all new mortgages, and the market is growing. But it is also a market that has changed significantly in recent years and so this app is a great way for brokers to find out what today’s specialist mortgage market could contribute to their business.

He added: “Whether it is the provision of products for clients who have failed a credit score, mortgages for the self-employed or contractors, buy to let or let to buy, specialist mortgages are an important part of every broker’s toolbox and an excellent way to deliver value to their clients. I’d encourage every broker, who is serious about the prospects for their business, to download the app and have a play. It’s accessible and informative, provides an unrivalled insight into the world of a specialist underwriter and, if nothing else, you can laugh at me struggling to read an autocue.”

Victoria Hartley, editor, Mortgage Solutions, said: “We’re really pleased with the final app and I’d like to thank Kensington and everyone involved with the behind-the-scenes development. This should be the first of many apps with a wealth of further digital development to come this year for the title.”
