The Source revamps landlord range to cover vacant property
General insurance provider The Source has enhanced its range to cover landlords who own blocks of flats or properties which are partially or temporarily unoccupied.

The range, Sentinel landlord, will consider properties which will be unoccupied for up to 60 days from the start of the policy or where minimal work is taking place from inception.

And blocks of flats can be covered which are not completely occupied as long as more than half of the units have been filled.

Non-standard and flat roofed properties will be considered on a referral basis together with certain listed buildings.

The Source insurance director Mick Cairns said: “There are a lot of different options for landlords out in the marketplace but those with requirements that fall outside the norm can find it difficult to get the right level of cover.”

Cairns said the amendments to the range had been brought about following feedback from intermediaries and landlords who pointed out where they had problems getting cover.

The refreshed Sentinel product provides buildings cover up to £2m and contents cover up to £50,000.
