FCA: Co-op Bank and mortgages among top FOI requests
In the FCA's annual report 2013/14 out today complaints, mortgages, the Co-operative Bank, whistleblowing and scandal-hit investments provider Keydata were the most frequently requested Freedom of Information topics.

Regulator the FCA said the most frequently asked topics related to high profile, complex and sensitive issues that attracted media coverage.

The regulator received a total of 748 requests this year, of which 473 were progressed as formal FoIA requests, up 3% year-on-year.

It said: “We disclosed material in 50% of cases where we held the information requested, compared to 40% in 2012/13.

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FoIA) enables anyone to request any public sector organisation to ask a question on a topic and get a response within 20 working days from receipt.

The organisation may refuse if the information is thought too sensitive or the cost of obtaining the information too high, benchmarked at £450-600.
