The award comes at an opportune moment for the company, which is marking its 40th Anniversary this year.
In a glittering ceremony at the Westminster Park Plaza Hotel, Avrili was honoured for his contribution to the mortgage industry over the last 30 years.
Walter began working at John Charcol at the start of his career in 1984 after graduating from the University of Lancaster. Since then he has been responsible for some important innovations such as heading up the launch of the first mortgage broker online website, ‘Charcolonline,’ in 1999.
In 2001, when John Charcol was part of Bradford & Bingley, Walter set up their nationwide mortgage broker network ‘Marketplace’.
He has held various positions at John Charcol over the years, including operations and sales director to chief operating officer, and became managing director in 2010 when John Charcol became part of the Towergate Financial Group.
Walter was somewhat overwhelmed at the recognition; “I am absolutely delighted and proud to have won this award. I consider myself to be so lucky to have met and worked with some incredible characters over the last 30 years and fully expect to go on a little longer.”
