Cirencester reports 94% of 2014 claims paid out
Income protection specialists Cirencester Friendly paid 94% of its claims in 2014 amounting to £3.3m of sick pay benefits last year.

In the last 12 months, a total of 784 applications were made of which 98% were eligible for consideration. Claims were rejected because applicants were either unable to prove their income, failed to supply medical evidence, they had suffered no loss of earnings from the injury or illnesses or the policy was not paid up-to-date.

The most common reason behind making a claim was accident or injury which accounted for 27% of applications. Other claims listed were depression, cancer, heart or circulatory complications and back, neck and shoulder problems.

CEO Paul Hudson (pictured) said: “We are committed to supporting our members when they need us most. That is why I am pleased to, once again, be able to report such positive claims statistics.

“We were one of the very first firms to publish these figures to ensure transparency whilst also giving advisers the confidence to entrust their clients to us.”
