UK construction output reported modest growth in the second quarter of 2015, with output increasing by 0.2% on the previous quarter and 2.4% on the same period last year.

Figures published by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) showed that the output of new private housing increased by 3.9% during the period covering April to June this year.

Compared with May 2015, construction output was estimated to have increased by 0.9% in June, rising by 2.6% compared to June 2014.

Output is determined by the ONS as the amount charged by construction companies to customers for the value of work, excluding VAT and payments to sub-contractors.

Upward pressure on prices during the second quarter came from all new work, which increased by 1%.
