SPF Private Clients launches new-build desk
SPF Private Clients has put together a team which will specialise in arranging mortgages for high value new-build homes which it said will plug a gap in the advice market.

The team will provide a UK- wide service for new-build customers and will be led by Russell Hall, head of new homes, alongside sales director Matt Wilde.

”Purchasing a new-build property is often problematic from a mortgage perspective,” said Wilde. ”This is particularly relevant when buying off-plan or when completion is a number of months off. Our aim is to ensure a stress-free transaction from start to completion, fitting in with the developer’s timescales.”

In the Autumn Statement, the Chancellor announced an extension to the Help to Buy equity loan scheme designed to help Londoners buy homes. The scheme will allow Londoners to obtain an interest-free equity loan from the government worth up to 40% of the value of a newly-built home. This compares to a 20% equity loan for anyone living outside London.

Help to Buy equity loan, which has been extended to 2021, is open to first-time buyers and homemovers who want to purchase new build homes valued at a maximum price of £600,000.

Yesterday, Leeds Building Society became the latest lender to confirm it will offer Help to Buy London mortgages from next month, alongside Nationwide and Lloyds.
