Brightstar appointed to National Counties’ specialist panel
Brightstar Financial has joined the specialist packager panel at Family Building Society parent, National Counties Building Society.

The mutual said it had appointed Brightstar as it had a reputation for serving the needs of underserved borrowers, much like its own customers that cannot obtain a mortgage from a traditional high street lender.

National Counties serves borrowers in niche sectors such as those reaching and in retirement, while its Family Building Society offshoot specialises in intergenerational lending within families to support varying circumstances they may face due to their age.

Head of intermediary sales, Cammy Amaira, said: “Some 90% of our business is conducted through intermediaries and we seek to help them solve the challenges that their clients face. As innovators, concentrating in niche areas of the market, we strive to work with specialists who will add something extra.”

Chris Bramham, head of specialist lending at Brightstar Financial (pictured), added: “As the specialist market continues to grow we are always looking to work with lenders who demonstrate innovative ways to provide solutions for our brokers and their clients.

“National Counties is one of these lenders which provide us with a real opportunity to do this with a refreshing approach to product, criteria and underwriting. It is really encouraging to see another lender who doesn’t set out to disenfranchise either the older or self-employed borrower, and we are really excited to be working with the team.”
