Dudley’s new underwriting manager pledges to simplify process
Dudley Building Society has appointed Paula Millard as underwriting manager from Royal Bank of Scotland.

Reporting to the Dudley’s head of credit, Jonathan Moore, Millard intends to create a culture where underwriters can make a decision on a “first-touch basis”.

Millard explained this meant the majority of cases would move through to offer with greater ease, without the need for more information requested by the lender.

She said: “My emphasis is to build on the relationships we have with our introducing partners and the importance of how, between us, we can cooperate to ensure that more enquiries turn into successfully submitted cases.

“Clarifying and tailoring our requirements for a particular case at the enquiry stage will create opportunities to provide a better customer service to our brokers.”

Millard joins the Dudley from RBS where she has worked as a lending officer, underwriter, team manager, and more recently a technical specialist for the bank’s technical training team.

Moore said the addition of Millard to the team was already making a difference to the Society.

“Paula’s experience of the underwriting role in a large organisation like RBS will be invaluable to us as we continue to develop our own underwriting capability in the wake of growing demand for our products and service.

“Her enthusiasm for lending and what she brings in terms of structure, when allied to Dudley’s commitment to assessing each case on its merits, will be particularly valuable.”
