In our first-time buyer video panel, in association with Halifax Intermediaries, chair and Mortgage Solutions group editor Victoria Hartley asks our experts what first-time buyers really want.

First-time buyers want everything, says Andrew Montlake, director at mortgage broker Coreco, but they particularly want a simplistic process and sureity of decisions because they are focused on getting on the property ladder.

Ian Wilson, head of Halifax Intermediaries said there is always an opportunity to keep it simple and added: “What we do find is that cashback is probably the most popular offering and we are amazed at the increase in business when cashback products are available.”

Our expert panelists are:

Vikki Jefferies, proposition director, LSL

Andrew Montlake, director, Coreco

Ian Wilson, head of Halifax Intermediaries

(Chair) Victoria  Hartley, group editor, Mortgage Solutions

Watch the five-part series of video panel debates in association with Halifax Intermediaries, which includes discussion of product transfers and application processing.
