Property transaction registrations fall in November 2018 – HM Land Registry

The number of registered property transactions fell on a monthly basis in November 2018, HM Land Registry revealed.


The number of property sales that HM Land Registry received for registration in November 2018 was 102,703, down 3.9% from the 106,883 recorded in October.

Of these, 77,369 were freehold, a 2% decrease on November 2017, whilst 14,866 were newly built, a 13.5% increase on November 2017.

However, the number of property transaction registrations slightly increased compared to the 96,355 recorded in September 2018.

There is a time difference between the sale of a property and its registration at HM Land Registry.

Of the sales received for registration in November, 31,721 were for transactions that took place in that month.

Around 567 were residential properties in England and Wales for £1m and over, including 336 residential properties in Greater London for £1m and over.

There were three residential properties in West Midlands for more than £1m, seven in Greater Manchester and two in Cardiff.

According to the data, the most expensive residential sale taking place in November 2018 was a terraced property in the City of Westminster for £38.8m.

The cheapest residential sale in November 2018 was of a terraced property in Burnley, Lancashire for £16,700.
